The Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC), an independent self-regulatory body mandated by broadcasters to look into complaints on general entertainment channels, has found that the highest number of complaints have to do with a category called ‘harm and offence’ which accounted for 39 per cent of the total complaints, covering a swathe of issues like portrayal of persons with disabilities, ill-treatment of animals and stereotyping of women.
